Lagos seal firms in Ikorodu for environmental infractions

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Tuesday sealed off several firms in Ikorodu due to various environmental infractions.

LASEPA in a statement said its officials carried out an enforcement exercise in Ikorodu to combat noise pollution, and air pollution and address various other environmental infractions.

“The agency closed several establishments for violating the law, including Sky Homes Car Wash and Bar, Franco Peter Company (Recycler), SK Bakery, Jemadex Kings Hotel, Planet Hotel, Happy Day Hotel, and a poultry,” the agency wrote on X.

It said despite several warnings in the past, these establishments, spanning diverse sectors such as hotels, bakery, recycling, and poultry, faced closure due to persistent non-compliance with LASEPA’s regulations.

LASEPA added that it is committed to creating a harmonious and sustainable environment for the residents of Lagos state and that made it take decisive action during Tuesday’s enforcement exercise.

According to the agency, the closure serves as a reminder to all businesses within Lagos state to prioritize compliance with environmental regulations.

It said by doing this, they would avoid disruptions to their operations and businesses, and contribute to the growth of the society and the general well-being of the citizenry.
