Leadership, system failure biggest Nigeria’s problems, says Ashimolowo

Founder and President, Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo.

Convener and President, Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW), Matthew Ashimolowo, yesterday, said the biggest challenge Nigeria is facing is system failure, saying the country’s problems go beyond leadership.

Ashimolowo stated this while speaking with journalists during the first special ministers’ meeting on the forthcoming CCRW’s mega crusade in conjunction with All the Churches in Ibadan, held at the Men of Issachar Vision Ministry, Olororo, Ibadan.

According to Ashimolowo, the crusade, which will be held from November 25-30, 2024, at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road in Ibadan, include medical outreach, free surgeries and distribution of relief materials to people, among others.

He said: ”Two or three challenges are facing Nigeria but many are only talking about one. We are talking about leadership and not talking of system failure.

”The failure of the system is the biggest problem. The blessing Europe and America have is the quality system. In America, you can put anybody as President, even a 10-year-old boy. The place would run because the system is bigger than the President.”

In his remarks, Rev. Samson Ajetomobi said: ”I think having this crusade in Oyo State should be a privileged opportunity for us to receive all that God has for the people of the state. The state has always been privileged as a pacesetter. The approach for the Christ compassion to the rural world campaign is totally different from the conventional crusade we’re familiar with.”
