Lenten season: Clerics urge Nigerians to seek face of God, repent

Nigerians have been urged to seek the face of God, turn from their wicked ways and ask for forgiveness “for our Creator to heal the country completely.”

Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Motailatu Church of God (MCG), Senior Superintendent Gabriel F. Akinadewo, who spoke, yesterday, during an anointing service to celebrate the beginning of Ash Wednesday, said: “The Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save Nigeria, neither his ear heavy that it cannot hear the cries of Nigerians” but sin has separated Nigerians from God.”

Akinadewo, while preaching on the theme: “Come Ye To The Waters,” at the Restoration Parish of the Church in Akute, Ogun State, declared that Nigerians must urgently seek the face of God to eradicate the socio-political, economic and security challenges in the country.

RELATEDLY, the Parish Priest of St. Jude Catholic Church, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, Revd. Fr. Patrick Okoye, has called on Nigerians to come to God in repentance for Him to see them through.

He gave the charge, yesterday, during a church service to mark Ash Wednesday.

Okoye said it would benefit Nigerians if they come to God and ask for His intervention in the current situation.

He said Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love even though some people have abused it.
