Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has denied claims that his wife, Natasha Osawaru, controls his movements or prevents him from performing at shows.

He spoke during an interview on the Mic On podcast, where he addressed lingering rumours about his marriage.

Dismissing the narrative that Natasha restricts him professionally, he said, “That is so absurd. People thrive on the saying that there is no smoke without fire so they just try to create doubts and fake news. There is nobody in this world that doesn’t get involved in disagreement once in a while. This is so crazy. Everybody is just hiding behind allegedly.”

He insisted that his work schedule proves otherwise.

“I did shows last year and I was going out. People saw me. People with phones and without work will just decide to write something to spark controversy. And, as you said, from last year to this year, I have entertained people a lot,” he added.

The singer’s comments come months after a December 2025 Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze drew intense public attention.

During the livestream, two of 2Baba’s former management associates, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, accused Natasha of exerting excessive control over his personal and professional life.
They also alleged that she had displayed violent outbursts and referenced a previous domestic disturbance in the United Kingdom.

While the claims were being made, 2Baba abruptly joined the session and ordered the duo to stop discussing his private affairs. Shortly after, raised voices believed to be his and Natasha’s were heard in the background before the broadcast ended suddenly.

The incident reignited earlier allegations that the singer was briefly taken into police custody in the UK during his October tour following an alleged altercation with Natasha. Although he denied the claim at the time, stating that he missed a show due to a medical emergency, the controversy resurfaced after the live session.

Public scrutiny intensified partly because the relationship became official shortly after 2Baba announced his separation from actress Annie Idibia in January 2025. He proposed to Osawaru in February, and they married in July.

Reflecting on the heated livestream episode, 2Baba admitted he regretted how he reacted.

“I was angry that day and I let my emotions get the best of me, and that is one lesson I want young boys and girls to note. When you react in anger, sometimes, you will regret what you do. For me, it was an unfortunate incident.”

When asked about his relationship with Annie, he declined to go into detail but said, “I am not going to go into that but we are good. I have not been the best dad because I have missed a whole lot of time. There are many things I wish I could rewind and do better. Going forward, I will try to do better.”

On his former group, Plantashun Boiz, he said there are no immediate reunion plans.

“We are good and everyone is doing their thing. Blackfaze is a story for another day. For me, I just try to maintain myself. For whatever reason, so many years, so many accusations and it’s all false. I have always said that we wrote the song (African Queen) together. He knows this. It pained me for sometime but I just had to let it go. We eventually settled it out of court. I don’t see Plantashun Boiz doing anything together yet,” he said.

Speaking on fame and public scrutiny, the music icon reflected on the price of living in the spotlight.

“Privacy is golden but unfortunately I am an artiste, so I already revoked my right to privacy by putting myself in the spotlight through my music.”
