The entertainment industry paused to celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of the late global icon, Dolly Parton during the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles

The beloved singer and actress passed away at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Her death marked the end of a phenomenal era spanning over six decades in music, film, and television.

During the ceremony, close friend and fellow country music star Reba McEntire delivered a stirring performance of Parton’s classic 1983 composition, “Appalachian Memories.”

Academy Award-winning actress Sally Field Parton’s co-star from the iconic 1989 film Steel Magnolias introduced the tribute with heartfelt remarks, remembering her dear friend as genuine, remarkably funny, and deeply compassionate.

Born in a rural cabin in Tennessee as one of twelve children, she rose from humble beginnings to become the undisputed Queen of Country Music.
