American rapper A$AP Rocky has spoken on the status of his relationship with Canadian rapper Drake, stating that their friendship fractured because of his romantic relationship with the global superstar Rihanna.

Speaking in a recent interview, Rocky reflected on the early days of their acquaintance. The rapper noted that Drake originally appeared supportive.

The rapper further explained that the professional and personal relationship, which included touring together, ended abruptly as his personal life evolved.

“I thought, ‘Oh boy, he was my man. Oh, he was my dude.’ You know what I am saying? I first met him, and it was just like he seemed, embraceful and shit, you know? Like, you know what I mean? We went on tour with him,” Rocky stated.

“And it’s just like I don’t know, I think when I got with my girl, he just started throwing shots out of nowhere. I just woke up and felt like he was throwing subs and shit .” He said.

Drake and Rocky had a closer relationship in the 2010s when Drizzy appeared on Rocky’s “F—in’ Problems’” hit in 2012. The OVO rapper also brought Rocky on his Club Paradise Tour in the same year.

Rocky and Rihanna are currently dating and have three kids together, while Drake was romantically linked to RiRi throughout the first half of the 2010s. Many fans believed that Drake dissed Rihanna on For All the Dogs‘ “Fear of Heights.”

Widely known for hit songs such as Diamonds and Umbrella, Rihanna has also built a billion-dollar empire through her beauty, lingerie, and fashion brands.

Rumours about her relationship with Rocky had circulated for years before they confirmed they were officially together.

They welcomed their second child, Riot Rose, in August 2023. Their third child, Rocki Irish Mayer in September 2025.
