Africa, and Senegalese born entertainer Akon, has refuted claims that he criticized Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, for introducing charges for the platform’s blue verification badges.

Akon stated that he would not pay for the new Twitter blue subscription. Akon argued that Twitter used to plead with musicians to remain active on the platform as it lacked traffic.

A tweet on Akon’s verified account said, “They came up with a verification process to protect accounts from take ones, now @elonmusk is taking that away and forcing us to pay- FYI, I’m ain’t paying shit for something we helped build.”

However, in a new tweet posted on Tuesday, Akon denied making the remarks, claiming that his account was hacked.

He wrote, “My account was just hacked. This tweet didn’t come from me. Whoever hacked my account, please keep your personal opinions away from my profile respectfully.

In the previous tweet, Akon asserted that he would not pay for the new Twitter blue subscription, arguing that musicians had helped to build the platform when it was struggling for traffic.

He urged the hackers to refrain from expressing their personal opinions on his profile.
