Even your skin needs a balanced diet. Knowing what vitamins your skin needs will help you prevent starving your skin ensuring it stays healthy always.

These top vitamins are also what you need to look out for in your skincare items. Some skin conditions require more of some vitamins than others.

Vitamin A

Whether you eat foods high in vitamin A or apply it directly to your skin, the result is the same for your skin. Vitamin A comes from foods like meat, poultry, fruits, and vegetables. Your liver converts vitamin A to retinol, which acts on your skin.

Vitamin A reduces the appearance of wrinkles and tautens saggy skin.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D protects the skin from the harmful rays of the sun by absorbing these rays. Vitamin D is essential for proper melanin function. Strangely, you get vitamin D from the sun. not just any kind of sun; you get the highest concentrations of vitamin D from the rising sun and the setting sun.

Vitamin D also has antimicrobial and antiacne properties. Vitamin D may prevent psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the skin’s chief antioxidants. People with oily skin typically have more Vitamin E in their skin. This is because vitamin E is stored in your skin’s pores and secreted as sebum. Sebum also acts as a natural barrier that prevents infection and dryness. Unfortunately, sebum also leads to acne. Many acne-regulating cleansers target sebum, so you may end up with vitamin E deficient skin.

Vitamin E deficient skin will most likely be dry and patchy.

Vitamin K

Your skin needs Vitamin K to maintain its collagen. Collagen in turn prevents premature aging and helps your skin remain firm and elastic. Vitamin K is also linked with dark spot removal and has some antioxidant effects.
