
Cardi B‘s major-label debut single “Bodak Yellow” was certified diamond on Monday by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after it sold 10 million copies.

The RIAA revealed that the 28-year-old is the first female rapper to earn the certification.

Cardi B, before announcing the news, posted a video on her Twitter page in which she told the story of how she was tired and wanted to avoid her record label, only to be pleasantly surprised to hear what they said.

“Bodak Yellow” was released on June 16, 2017, by Atlantic Records as the lead single from her debut studio album Invasion of Privacy. The song received nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song at the 60th Grammy Awards. It won Single of the Year at the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards and Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Song at the 2018 American Music Awards.
