The Nigerian Author and feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is set to receive an Honorary Doctor of Literature degree (DLit) at the July 2018 graduation ceremony of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Chimamanda who is to be honored alongside Academy Award winning actor Forest Whitaker, author Dr Jung Chang, film curator June Givanni and human rights activist Vrinda Grover, has so far authored four books titled Purple Hibiscus, Things Around Your Neck, Americanah and Half Of The Yellow with a long essay titled “We Should All Be Feminists”

The school’s website has reported that:
‘Chimamanda’s books have challenged perceptions around issues such as identity and race, and her internationally renowned TED talk ‘We should all be feminists’ had a global impact on conversations about gender equality.’
