Bell bottoms entered the fashion world in the 1960’s and have since remained in fashion. Belle bottoms were firstly associated with the British Royal Navy in the talk about the perfect accessory to keep the saw dust off the shoes. 

After it’s well suited feature on high waters and wood shops, bell bottoms found its way into mainstream fashion in the 1960s.This striking pair of pants were typically flared from the knee down, with the bottom leg openings of up to twenty-six inches. Made from denim, bright cotton and satin polyester, they were so popular that they became a symbol of the outlandish and colorful style of the decade.

After a fade out from the fashion space with the rise in Rock punk in the 1970s, the statement piece made a comeback in 1996. By now, these wide-legged pants referred to as boot-cut or bootleg continued to grow even more popular by 1999 with a slimmer flare that later gained them, enjoying a 10 year span of style dominance.

With fashion as a cycle of invention and reinventing, the bell bottoms have made a statement in the fashion space. Others are revamped with details to suit the trend  and style of current fashion. Some have the much-loved fringe at and rips while some stay clean and simple making it easier to dress up or down whether in high fashion or street style.

From Moschino to Amiri to Sportmax and even Versace in their spring summer 2022 collections, bell bottoms made a significant feature showcasing the favorite silhouette on high fashion runways. The popularity of this style has definitely sky rocketed especially with popular brands exploring it. 

It is safe to say that fashion is a cycle of glam intelligence.
