Culture, fashion meet at Ayinla movie premiere

Sunday, June 13, will ever remain memorable in the minds of showbiz personalities, filmmakers, culture aficionados and movie lovers as Ayinla; one of the most anticipated movies of the season was premiered at the Ebonylife Place, Victoria Islnad, Lagos.

Sunday, June 13, will ever remain memorable in the minds of showbiz personalities, filmmakers, culture aficionados and movie lovers as Ayinla; one of the most anticipated movies of the season was premiered at the Ebonylife Place, Victoria Islnad, Lagos.

Themed, Cultural Extravaganza, the event served as avenue for fashion conscious people to showcase their alluring Yoruba cultural outfits in line with the key messages of the movie.

Produced by Jade Osiberu and directed by movie virtuoso, Tunde Kelani (TK), the movie tells the story of Apala music maestro, Ayinla ‘Omowura’ Yusuf, popularly called Egun Mogaji (Anigilaje).

Set in the rocky city of Abeokuta, the movie takes its audience to the city life of the 1970s. It explores the life and times of the late Apala music ace before his death in 1980.

The movie features talents including, Adedimeji Lateef as Ayinla and Debo Macaroni, as the murderous Bayowa. It also features Kunle Afolayan, Omowumi Dada, Bimbo Manuel, Ade Laoye, Jumoke Odetola, Bimbo Ademoye and others.

Sponsors of the movie, Trophy Lager beer and First Bank, were on ground to reward guests who were looking stunning. Also rewarded were the best dressed male and female. While Nollywood stars, Akah Nnani and Osas Ighodaro went home with gold prizes.

Some of the guests that graced the show are, Adebola Lagos and wife, Kenny; Sola Adeduntan (MD, First Bank); Chief Femi Branch; Adesua Etomi; Toyin Abraham; Mercy Aigbe; and Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, who played host of the red carpet event, among others. The movie hit the cinemas across the country on Friday, June 18.
