People’s lives have changed more through stories than data. It is automatic; a story just changes your life immediately. Technology can enable but a story helps make transformative life decisions.
These were the words of Chude Jideonwo, a celebrated media entrepreneur, CEO of Joy Inc., and Co- founder, RED | For Africa when he spoke about the ideology behind the oncoming #WithChudeLive event, curated to be one beautiful day for the mind, soul and spirit, a first of its kind live edition of the WithChude interview series where people from different walks of life including celebrities across sectors would share their personal life experiences, struggles, challenges, the good, the bad and the ugly for others to learn and be transformed through these stories.
Jideonwo, who spoke during a media briefing that held in Lagos on Thursday to announce the #WithChudeLive event billed for April 27, 2025 at The Palms Mall, Oniru, Lekki Lagos, said the aim of the show is to contribute to the transforming of Nigeria’s culture into a safe space for mental and emotional sphere. “#WithChude is not just another event, it is an emotional, full-circle moment for me. For the longest time, I have dreamed of creating something like this – a space where the power of truth, vulnerability, and story can come alive in real-time. #WithChudeLive is an answer to that, a beautiful day for the mind, heart and spirit, where people can feel seen, heard, and deeply moved,” Jideonwo said.
On why people need to share their stories, Jideonwo said: “Nigerians have a lot of taboos that do not allow us to be vulnerable. We have all kinds of culture of shame and silence that makes people keep their struggles to themselves which is why we do not replicate success and change. We need to allow ourselves to be vulnerable. When people tell vulnerable stories, the truth comes alive and that firsthand experience narrative changes people’s lives.”
#WithChudeLive is poised to deliver a groundbreaking blend of emotional storytelling and soul-stirring insight. Attendees can expect a stellar lineup of some of Nigeria’s most celebrated figures, including literary icon Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, spiritual leader Pastor Jerry Eze, music activist and rapper Folarin Falana (Falz), and comedian Abovi Ugboma (Bovi).
Adding to the line-up will be a powerful live panel session featuring Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Veekee James, Hauwa Lawal, entertainer Kiekie, Moses Bliss and Taaooma. Together, they will explore timely themes through the lens of personal stories, courage, and authenticity.
