DStv Removes Reality Series “I am Cait” From E! Following Complaints From Nigerians
MultiChoice has removed Caitlyn Jenner’s reality television show “I’m Cait” from E! Entertainment schedule in Nigeria.
“I’m Cait” is a reality series which focuses on the 65-year-old Caitlyn Jenner, and her personal journey as a transgender.
“I’m Cait” which focuses on Caitlyn Jenner and her personal journey as a transgender, has been described by Nigerians as ‘unfit for kids.’
According to a statement release issued on Tuesday May 24 by MultiChoice Africa, the decision to pull the show from E! came after an instruction from the National Broadcasting Commission “NBC“. Apparently, Nigerians complained that the show wasn’t morally good for children.
In lieu of this, MultiChoice Nigeria assured that they will review clients complaints and ensure that their interests are made priority to regularly assess the impact their content has on their customers.
But this might be coming rather too late as it has been reported that E! itself is planning to cancel the show due to low ratings.
According to Nielsen, Caitlyn Jenner’s ‘I Am Cait’ averaged a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.73 million viewers overall for its debut.
Among those 2.73 million viewers, more than half (1.5 million) were adults 18-49. Over all, its four plays has had a total audience of 6.2 million for E!
