Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has urged critics to allow the widow of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, to grieve in peace amid the controversy surrounding his death and burial arrangements.
Aigbe made the appeal in a post on her Instagram story, where she criticised the growing public attention surrounding the disagreement between the bereaved widow and the singer’s family.Sharing a message the actress wrote, “PLEASE, LET THIS WOMAN GRIEVE IN PEACE.”
In another message, she stated, “Not every tragedy needs an audience. Sometimes, people simply need the space to grieve.”
Her comments come amid mounting reactions to the disagreement over where the late singer should be buried, with family members and social media commentators expressing different opinions about the arrangements.
Toluwanisings died in Ibadan, Oyo State, on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping. His death sparked public concern, with his personal assistant alleging that attempts to secure medical attention for the singer at several hospitals were unsuccessful.

The circumstances surrounding his death have also prompted calls from members of his paternal family for an investigation before his burial.
Beyond the calls for an investigation, the family has been embroiled in a disagreement with his widow over his final resting place

Reports indicate that some of his paternal relatives want him buried at the house he built in Ibadan, while his widow reportedly prefers a cemetery or church-owned burial ground.
The disagreement has drawn widespread attention, with interviews granted by relatives and discussions across social media fuelling further debate about the widow’s position.
Aigbe’s intervention highlights concerns about the treatment of bereaved families when private disagreements become subjects of public discussion.
Her message also draws attention to the emotional burden on the singer’s widow and their two children, who are mourning their loss while the controversy continues.
The actress did not publicly take a position on the proposed burial location in the messages shared. Instead, her appeal centred on the need to respect the widow’s grief and give the family privacy during a difficult period.
Her remarks add to the growing reactions from public figures and social media users who have weighed in on the dispute, with several calling for compassion and restraint.
As discussions surrounding the singer’s death and burial continue, Aigbe’s message calls for a more considerate response to a family navigating bereavement, urging the public to recognise that grief does not need an audience.
