The MTV African Music Awards, popularly known as MAMA’s was held in Durban at the the Durban International Convention Center on the 18th of July. This award was a major smash for Nigerian entertainers as they bagged 6 awards out of the 17 award categories. The host was none other than US comedian Anthony Anderson who hosted the show last year as well.

10 years ago on the same day Mandela was there to honour MTV base and it was also Mandela Day. Durban was truly ablaze with celebrations, a sight to behold.

The red carpet was lit with class, style and obviously people who didn’t get the memo. Just one of those things that must happen at an award show right?

Performances were stellar. Some better than most and some people came with boring routines and songs. African performers need to step up their game.

We did not forget the presence of international stars Neyo and Jhene Aiko at the award and Neyo’s performance with Seyi Shay for like three minutes.

Last but certainly not the least and the main reason there was a show in the first place is the list of winners who made their countries and fans proud.

And the award goes to…………..
