The 2017 edition of ART X Lagos which opened to a VIP preview on Friday 3rd November 2017, was the beginning of a three-day art fair that featured 14 leading international art galleries and over 60 artists from 10 countries across Africa and the diaspora. This year it was opened by His Highness, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II (CON), Emir of Kano. The Emir was joined by The Honourable Minister of Information & Culture, Lai Mohammed, and a wide array of dignitaries.

While the maiden edition drew over an audience of 5,000 people, this year Art X Lagos attracted over 9,000 people to The Civic Center in Victoria Island Lagos. The event included specially curated installations, a programme of talks, the ART X Prize, and an audience favourite – ART X Live!

“We can now say with confidence that we are on course to deliver on our mission – to magnify the patronage of African artists across the continent, and to inspire the future generations of African artists. We assure you of our commitment to maintaining ART X Lagos as a leading light for African contemporary art.” – Tokini Peterside, Founder Art X Lagos
