Situated in the serene neighborhood of Ilupeju, the new edifice features a reception area, a waiting/attendance room, a finishing room, admin office, two showrooms and a workshop, all expertly designed and decorated to taste. Indeed, the warm ambience of the facility is welcoming and truly reflects the “style and elegance personified” motto of the brand.
The official opening ceremony, which held recently amid fun and fanfare attracted fashion icons, celebrities, friends and colleagues of the seasoned designer who has made name for himself in the country’s fashion industry.
Speaking at the event, Managing Director of fashion brand, Godwin Mekwuye appreciated God for what the brand has been able to achieve so far, adding, “simplicity and subtlety of Vivid Imagination outfits is what stands the brand outs.”
Excited Mekwuye, who led guests on a tour of the facility, recalled the humble beginning of the brand and its contributions to the country’s fashion industry. Little wonder the duo of King of Fuji music, Wasiu Ayinde and Afro juju music creator, Sir Shina Peters, dedicated tracks in celebration of Vivid Imagination’s achievements.
“Whatever we are today has been through the grace of God and also thanks to God. Sincerely, I think that God just loves me and has chosen to show me mercy. Other than our resilience and tenacity, I don’t think that we have done anything extraordinary except to enjoy God’s grace and mercy as a business.”
He, however, recalled the horrible fire incident on February, 2018, that consumed goods and machines worth millions of Naira and how he recovered from it.
“That I could get over it, considering the enormity of the loss, is still a miracle and thanks to God. Over nine trailers were used for the evacuation of debris from our premises. That would tell you the enormity of our loss.”
As for the next level for Vivid Imagination, he said, “it’s in the hands of God,” even as he hinted on the plans of adding footwear, accessories and fabrics to the business due to request from clients.
The journey of Vivid Imagination began 33 years ago among siblings; Godwin, Bimbo and Dupe. The trio, hitherto, were into the importation of furniture and other household items until a government policy, which they considered unfavourable, forced them to refocus and redirect their business. The result of that wise decision is Vivid Imagination, which is today, one of Nigeria’s biggest and leading fashion brands.
