Family Comedy Movie ‘Palava’ Hits The Cinemas Today Featuring RMD, Mercy Aigbe, Others

In Palava, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), plays Osa Wonda, a highlife musician, whose life and family is turned upside when faced with a scandal on his 60th birthday.

Palava is Inkblot Production’s 20th film written by Anee Icha and Chinaza Onuzo, and directed by award-winning filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan.

Writer of the movie and Co-founder of Inkblot Production, Chinaza Onuzo said the aim behind releasing the movie during the festive period is to bring families together bringing excitement to their faces

Adding that, all families have their different chaos or obstacles but when it is put first then everything becomes easy

He noted that when the film was premiered about a week ago, the audience responded to the themes of family, loyalty and drama

Speaking on the structuring of the movie, Onuzo said: “we start with the story, we find a story that we think others will relate with then we bring a lot of packages with the director and actor working together to try and create something that is truly special.”

He further urged the government to help curb the issues of piracy in the film industry, calling on consumers to watch all movies through the recommended platforms.

Producer of the movie, Zulumoke Oyibo said they were inspired by the Christmas spirit in Nigeria and how everyone loves to forget the year, enjoying the season with friends, and family with the idea of giving a light family comedy-drama.

“We keep going back despite the challenges yet still repeating productions because we feel fulfilled anytime we release a movie and it gets a warm reception just like the premiere of Palava where we got applauds, and laughs all moment.” She added

One of the Cast, Omawumi Megbele who played the role of Aunty Ese said being her first time playing the role of an older person was interesting to her as she had to dig deep into it.

She advised Nigerians that family is everything with no perfection in human character

Also, Jemima Osunde, revealed that the only challenging aspect of the movie was her being slapped though it was necessary for the character

She also revealed that the movie is her first December release and her first time working with a lot of people on a project which was an awesome experience, noting that a lot of things she was looking forward to do happened on one project

BBNaija star, Akpofure, who played the role of Maleek in the movie revealed this is his first feature film and was happy about his character because it already fitted into his regular lifestyle noting that the film was a huge stepping stone for him

“It was tasking to shoot the movie with a lot of dedication, time and pain because I’m used to my routines but I have to come to set like 6 pm and shoot till like 6 am in the morning, the cold, mosquitoes, it was an experience I would not take anything out.” He revealed
