John Legend To Star In “Jesus Christ Superstar Live” Next Year
It’s the season of musicals and in the past month, we’ve seen a lot of superstars gleefully belt out show tunes and classics live on stage.
John Legend joins the list of superstars in musicals as it was announced yesterday that he would be joining Andrew Lloyd on Jesus Christ Superstar Live as Jesus Christ. The multiple Tony Awards winner tweeted about how excited he was to have John Legend on the show which is set for release next year easter.
John Legend who is no stranger to awards having bagged a Tony Award himself was super excited by the news and he also expressed this on twitter.
The musical takes the story of Jesus Christ and turns it into a rock & roll musical. With reimagined versions of church songs like “Heaven On Their Minds,” “Hosanna,” and “The Last Supper”.
Although John Legend is far from being a rock star, the singer is very diverse and there is no doubt that he will do a great job.
Earlier this year, rock legend Alice Cooper had been cast as King Herod and the musical is set to air on NBC on April 1, 2018.
