“Omo Ghetto (The Saga)” Is Coming To Netflix On Sept. 10
‘Omo Ghetto’ (The Saga), a Nigerian gangster comedy film by Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz, will be premiere on Netflix on Sept. 10.
Akindele-Bello made the announcement via her Instagram page @funkeakindelebello.
“From the Ghetto to Netflix!!!!! #OmoGhettoTheSaga is coming to @naijaonnetflix this September.
“Get ready to experience the Saga all over again. #GetReady #September10 #OmoGhettoTheSaga,” she wrote.
The film, which is a sequel to 2010 trilogy ‘Omo Ghetto’, follows the story of Shalewa aka Lefty (Funke Akindele) was released on Christmas day 2020.
Lefty ( Funke Akindele) struggled between living a life of wealth and comfort provided by her adopted mother or returning to her ghetto lifestyle.
Akindele, who produced and co-directed the film, played the dual role of Ayomide and Lefty.
She starred alongside Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas, Eniola Badmus, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo among others.
The record-breaking film became a box office success and surpassed Fate of Alakada as the highest grossing Nigerian film for the year 2020. As of 26 January 2021, when the film grossed ₦468 million at the box office it surpassed the record of 2016 film The Wedding Party to become the highest ever grossing film in the Nigerian film industry.
