Nigerian filmmakers and producers can now submit original films for distribution and monetisation through global streaming platform Flixora.

The company said the expansion, which took effect on September 1, also opened its global film festival to eligible Nigerian short-film producers.

In a statement made available to Guardian Life, Flixora said the move would help filmmakers extend the commercial life of their productions while retaining ownership of their intellectual property.

Under the Flixora Producers Partnership, filmmakers can submit completed original productions for content, ownership and rights verification.
Approved films may then be considered for distribution and monetisation across selected territories.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flixora, Chukwuemeka Martins Osuofia, said the expansion provides another distribution option for Nigerian producers seeking audiences beyond the local market.

“Nigeria has one of the world’s most active and influential film industries, with filmmakers producing stories that reach audiences both locally and internationally,” he said.

“Flixora’s expansion is intended to create another pathway for producers who want to explore distribution beyond traditional local channels.

“For filmmakers with completed and unreleased original movies, the Flixora Producers Partnership provides an opportunity to submit their work for verification and explore potential distribution through a platform built specifically around original films.”

Osuofia said eligible producers could access international distribution, territorial opportunities, monetisation, content verification and ownership protection through the platform.

He added that the Flixora Global Film Festival would allow Nigerian short-film creators to present their work to an international audience.

According to him, entries must meet the platform’s requirements on quality, copyright, originality and ownership.

The expansion coincides with the addition of Eraser, the first Nigerian film officially featured on Flixora.
The thriller, presented by Glitchy Concept, stars DanceGlitch and Ejiofor ChiaGozie.

DanceGlitch also directed and edited the film, while VeeConcepts served as director of photography.

Other cast members include Chuke Chinemelum, Enweribe Promise, Arinze Promise, Gokana Theophilus, Egere Great and Shelleng Perejade.

Osuofia said the addition of Eraser shows that Nigerian productions can secure a place in the platform’s international catalogue.

“Eraser represents the beginning of something bigger,” he said.

“We want Nigerian filmmakers to know that their stories can travel. This is the first Nigerian movie on Flixora, and we hope it will be the first of many original Nigerian productions to find new audiences through the platform.”

Flixora also announced the endorsement of three Nigerian musicians whose songs have been placed on different sections of the platform.

They are Odunayo Victoria Oluwapelumi, popularly known as Vyky; Shofela Olamide Sulaimon, also known as Rael; and Abuja-based gospel singer Alicia Jay.

The company added that the first 10 eligible producers to join the platform and upload their films would each stand a chance to receive ₦100,000.
