Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has shared a chapter from her life, revealing that she almost took drastic action due to damaging falsehoods circulating about her online.

In a recent interview on Nollywood on Radio, a programme spotlighting Nigerian cinema, Ajao opened up about how the weight of this misinformation took a heavy toll on her mental well-being, nearly pushing her to the point of self-harm.
“I almost poisoned myself because there was news about me online that was far from true. It was the first time in my life that I faced something so painful. I didn’t eat for seven straight days. People around me can testify – I didn’t go anywhere.

“My sisters were calling, telling me, ‘You have to do this for yourself. You don’t have to poison yourself.’ My son was reaching out to everyone, saying I was struggling with this lie online. I don’t even want to remember those things, honestly,” she said.

Recall that the internet was set ablaze earlier this year following the events that unfolded when a controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, was crowned the ‘best dressed female’ at the premiere of actress and filmmaker, Eniola Ajao’s movie titled, ‘Ajakaju (Beast of Both Worlds).
