Many people see long distance relationship as a no go area, as if it were a curse. But, in all fairness, it is not such a bad thing to experience.

Unless you both are entirely stationed at home (which is highly unlikely), then there will be times when you two will be apart. That too, is “distance”. If you can survive that, what stops you from taking it up a notch?

However, if you still feel incapable of bearing the absence of your significant order, these tips can help you thrive regardless:

Avoid Excessive Communication:

You two don’t really have to communicate 12 hours a day to keep the relationship going. Always bear in mind that “Less is more”. It is not about sending tons of messages to one another which ends of looking like spam but, really about teasing at the right moments and tugging at the right spots.

Many couples think that they need to compensate for the distance by doing more. This is not true. And it might only make things worse. Soon you would get tired of “loving.”

See it as an opportunity, NOT a chore

It is not a crime to have a life outside of your relationship. Often times, when two people come together to be one, it is hard to find that “individual” time. Being in a long distance relationship gives you the time and space to find “yourself” – new hobbies, take on a new job etc.

Do fun things together

Even though you both are apart, there are a couple of things you two can do together. For instance, play an online video game together, watch movies online together, do some online shopping for each other among other fun things.

Most importantly, be present, regardless of the miles between you both.
