Nigerian actor, comedian and skit maker, Ijoba Lande, has stirred controversy after alleging that actress and producer Funke Akindele paid him ₦90,000 for a month-long film project at Amen Estate.

He made the statement during a recent live session with his fans, which a viewer later shared on X (formerly Twitter), sparking debates around Nollywood’s treatment of upcoming talents.

“Funke Akindele called me for a movie production at Amen Estate. I was shocked when she gave me ₦90,000 after spending one month there,” Lande said. He advised aspiring actors to remain grounded and not idolise any single figure in the industry, noting, “Upcoming actors should never see one actor as God.”

The post has triggered widespread reactions, with some defending Akindele’s contribution to the industry, while others raised concerns about exploitation and pay equity for lesser-known creatives.

Lande continued by adding that any upcoming actor should always state clearly their price to any producer who reaches out to them so they are not underpaid after the completion of a project.

However, this isn’t the first time Lande has made headlines in recent weeks. Last month, a clip of his wife daring another celebrity to sleep with her during a truth or dare game surfaced online. The viral video drew mixed reactions, with many expressing concern over the couple’s pattern of controversial public content.

Funke Akindele has yet to speak in response to this claim made by Ijoba Lande.
