The anticipated sequel to The Set Up, a Nigerian crime thriller released by Inkblot Productions in 2019, is exciting viewers to become a box office success.

It was launched in cinemas in August 2019 and on the streaming platform Netflix in 2020.

Directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, the Inkblot and Anakle production enjoys an impressive box-office outing, grossing over N50 million.

After a series of twists, the movie ended with fans clamouring for a sequel. This anticipation was heightened and replaced with excitement earlier in the year when fans discovered that cinematography for a second part had commenced.

“Our partnerships with Inkblot always deliver, and I am so pleased to say that The Set-Up 2 is no exception,” said Moses Babatope, CEO of Film One Entertainment.

The first teaser, a 30-second reel, featuring Adesua Etomi and newly added cast member, Nancy Isime, in a face-off, released on Monday, July 18, has already recorded a massive three million views across social media platforms.

The sequel, set to open in cinemas nationwide on August 12, would see Isime, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Stan Nze, Lota Chukwu and Tope Olowoniyan joining the original cast – Etomi-Wellington, Jim Iyke, Kehinde Bankole and Tina Mba.

Speaking on what fans should expect, Chiza Onuzo, who is a co-founder at Inkblot Productions, observed: “We’re excited to continue the story once again in The Set Up 2. We were fortunate to work with an amazing cast and crew, and we believe that once again, we have delivered some of the best cinema entertainment you will see this year.”

The sequel is to head to Amazon Prime Video for a streaming run as part of a multi-title deal between Inkblot and the streamer signed last year.
