Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs have taken the top spots as the wealthiest current hip-hop artistes, just as Kanye West’s net worth dives, according to a list compiled by former longtime Forbes editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg.

Kanye West’s recent anti-Semitic comments caused longtime partners Balenciaga and Adidas to pull out of their partnerships with him, causing his net worth to drop dramatically from billionaire status.

Greenburg on his Zogblog substack wrote his “two-year run in ten-figure territory is over—and hip-hop’s wealth hierarchy has seen its biggest shakeup to date.”

Jay-Z has returned to the no 1 spot with a personal record of $1.5 billion, thanks to his diversified empire, with investments in everything from records to real estate and spirits to startups. Diddy also reached billionaire status, followed by newcomer Gilbert “Berner” Milam debuts thanks to his cannabis cookie empire.

Greenburg has continued his annual “Highest Paid Hip-Hop Artists” lists since leaving Forbes, however, since 2019, this is his first major list. He also noted that “the five richest artists’ combined net worth has jumped 20% from a pre-pandemic total of $3.17 billion.”
