Johnny Depp Thanks Fans For Support As Defamation Trial Against Amber Heard Is Delayed
Depp, 57, on Friday, took to his Instagram page where he shared a video of himself writing the letter with a dip pen:
“Hello All! I just wanted to thank you all once again for your constant and loyal support throughout many long and interesting episodes of my life…” the “Pirates of the Caribbean actor” wrote.
He added: “I am only here because of you — and I’m only here for you!!! All thanks and love to you for all, JD.”
The letter comes as it is announced that his $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in the American courts was delayed, but not for the reasons he pitched.
Circuit Court Chief Judge Bruce White pushed the trial back from January 11 next year to May 3, 2021, due to continued concerns over coronavirus, Deadline reported. “Right now, the Virginia Supreme Court has not authorized us to conduct jury trials,” Judge White said.
At the end of August, Depp had asked that the proceedings be moved to somewhere between March and June 2021, so that he could begin filming Fantastic Beasts 3 in the U.K. Depp is slated to return as Gellert Grindelwald in the latest franchise based on J.K. Rowling’s books. Depp said he was scheduled to be on set from October to next February in London.
