American content creator and streamer Kai Cenat returned to Lagos this week, days after fellow streamer IShowSpeed left the city.

During this visit, Cenat met with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lagos House, Marina, where they discussed the city and Cenat’s experiences in Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu shared a the moment on his official instagram handle, and captioned it: “Today, I received American content creator and streamer Kai Cenat at Lagos House, Marina. It was a pleasure to meet him and hear his perspective on our city. He spoke about his experiences and the time he has spent here. This is his second visit to Lagos and his appreciation for the energy and creativity of our people came through clearly.”

Cenat first visited Lagos in March 2024, when he toured the Makoko community, a waterfront neighbourhood famous for its stilted houses. He also visited the Makoko Children’s Development Foundation School and orphanage, where he saw overcrowded classrooms and limited learning resources.

During that visit, Cenat made a donation of about $2,800–$3,000 to help with immediate needs at the school. He also pledged to support a larger project to build a proper school for Makoko children, with an estimated value of $5 million.

Kai Cenat, whose full name is Kai Michael Cenat, is best known for his live streaming and comedic content on Twitch and YouTube.

He holds the all-time record for the most active subscribers on Twitch, surpassing 1 million subscribers during his Mafiathon 3 subathon, and has over 20 million followers on the platform. His Instagram account has over 17 million followers.

Cenat is known for interactive livestreams, hosting celebrity guests and playing popular video games.

Over the years, Cenat has streamed with celebrities including Drake, Lil Baby, Nicki Minaj, and other music and social media stars, which has boosted his popularity.

His livestreams are known for high-energy entertainment, and spontaneous comedic moments, which helped him build a dedicated fanbase across social media platforms.
