Who is Kozykid?
Kozykid is a Nigerian Afro pop singer, songwriter and record producer. I’m an all rounder and I do it with ease.
How long have you been making music and what sparked your interest? I began writing music while in secondary school and went to record my first song at the age of 14. As for the interest, it’s always been there, growing up I’ve always had a flair for music and the passion has kept pushing me towards that goal of becoming the next global superstar out of Africa.

Kindly breakdown your latest release ‘Bentley’ for us, what was your thought process through the making of that song?
The question is, who doesn’t want rich friends? Who wants people always taking from them and never giving to them? Idk… but for me, I don’t need broke friends. My motive behind creating “Bentley” was to help people express how they feel about friends or others around them who always have nothing to offer but keep tagging along. On my second verse “Shey na you Dey sleep when a ni**a was grinding now the ni**a be balling now they wanna be tagging along“ because that’s what most people do these days. They play while others works and when it’s time for fun, they always want to tag along. Still on my second verse, I gave an example on how things should really be “gotta get the money that be part of the rules, when I pull up in a Bentley you can pull up in Coups with the Louie V shoes”.

Also In the process of making this song, I also tried to celebrate people out there making it for themselves and motivate the ones that are still working to achieve their goals “Big up to all my men wey dey get mulla, for the ones wey Dey grind, e go be sooner, champagne showers, magazine cover”.

Kozykid

Is it part of a larger project?
Yes Bentley is a single off my forthcoming EP where you get to know the real Kozykid.
What are some challenges of being a new artiste in the Nigerian music industry? There are no challenges, I can’t relate to that question.

I focus on making good music and try not to pay any attention to obstacles that may rise up.

What inspires your music?
1/3 of the things I sing about are my actual experiences. My day to day life inspires my music. I turn real events to melodies.

Who would you love to work with professionally, here in Nigeria and globally?
In Nigeria, I will love to work with Wizkid. Globally, I will love to work with Drake.

What does good music mean to you?
You get the message when you listen to it, that is what good music entails. When the people, not only your fans are able to relate to a song and apply it to their daily living, that is good music.

What can fans expect from Kozykid in the future?
The future!!!!
