Veteran Afrobeat musician Keji Hamilton has returned with a new single titled Agbaya People, a release that highlights both his enduring connection to the genre and his ability to reflect everyday realities through music.
Released under HIS Media Empire, the track marks a fresh chapter for the seasoned performer, whose career has spanned stages across North America and Europe.
Hamilton is widely recognised for his association with the legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, having performed as part of the iconic Egypt 80 band. Over the years, he established himself as a versatile instrumentalist, performing on lead guitar, bass guitar, piano, congas and alto saxophone.
His musical journey has taken him to major venues across the United States, from the East Coast to the West Coast, as well as to audiences in countries including France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
With Agbaya People, Hamilton delivers a song rooted in humour and social observation. The track explores the contradictions and everyday experiences that shape modern life, wrapped in a familiar Afrobeat rhythm designed to connect with a broad audience.
The single combines engaging instrumentation with relatable themes, reflecting the storytelling tradition that has long been central to Afrobeat music. By drawing inspiration from common social experiences, Hamilton seeks to create a song that resonates across generations and backgrounds.
Beyond the release itself, Agbaya People represents the return of an artist whose contributions have formed part of Afrobeat’s global journey over several decades. While younger generations continue to expand the reach of the genre internationally, Hamilton remains among the musicians who helped sustain and spread Afrobeat beyond Nigeria’s borders.
The release underscores his continued commitment to the sound and cultural heritage that have defined much of his career.
Agbaya People is now available on major digital streaming platforms worldwide.
