Popular but highly controversial Nigerian musician, Iyun Janet Oluwatoyosi Ajilore, commonly known as Saint Janet, has died.
The highlife and juju singer, known for her lewd lyrics, reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday, August 2, 2026, after a brief illness.
Publisher and socialite, Otunba Femi Davies, broke the news of Saint Janet’s death on his social media platforms.
“St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore) a popular Nigerian Juju and highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence, and socially unfiltered party tracks is dead. She died after a brief illness.”
The late juju artiste, fondly called Mama Yabis, by her fans rose to stardom after her controversial Faaji Plus featured lewd lyrics.
She was, however, banned multiple times by regulatory bodies like the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The suspension did not deter Saint Janet from developing and enjoying her craft, as she continued to perform at private events.
Known for her energetic performances, bold party tracks, and unique blend of gospel openings with unfiltered lyrics, she left an unforgettable mark on the music scene.
Fans and colleagues are mourning the loss of the vibrant General Overseer – “G.O. of Saint Bottles Cathedral.”
