Gospel music is integral in sculpting a convivial society — Elvis Sax
An Abuja-based gospel artiste, Onwuma Elvis, who is widely recognised by his fans as Elvis Sax, recently disclosed the integral role gospel music plays in shaping a convivial and harmonious society.
He said that gospel music, in its therapeutic nature, not only serves as a source of spiritual upliftment but also sets the tone for positive values and morals among its listeners.
Elvis made this known at the 6th edition of his music concert with the theme, “As It Is In Heaven,” held on Sunday at the RCCG, Rhema Assembly, Arab Road, Kubwa—Abuja.
The event attracted an animated crowd of gospel music enthusiasts, who were immersed in an ambience filled with electrifying live music.
Attendees were also treated to a harmonious blend of soulful performances by a lineup of exceptional gospel artists like Sammy Dee, Mustapha Galadima, Thombee and other fine arts.
Elvis Sax called on gospel artists to be models, emulating the exemplary life of Christ in influencing their immediate environment.
He stated: “Gospel music is attitude. Gospel music is character. Gospel music is spirit, it’s more than singing; there is a spirit that is embedded in gospel music, and until you have possessed that spirit, I’m sorry, I can’t call it a gospel artist.
“Gospel music helps in shaping society and creating a convivial atmosphere. It is re-etching the great teachings of Christ in rhythm, and that helps in building positive values in society. A true gospel music minister influences his environment with the right attitude.”
One of the guest artistes, Mustapha Galadima, expressed excitement at the success of the concert and lauded the incredible impact of gospel music on society.
Mustapha urged gospel artists to always uphold the tenets of Christ rather than material gains.
In his words: “Experiencing God’s presence has a profound uplifting effect on the soul, and events like gospel concerts serve as meaningful reminders of Christ’s mercies. Gospel music possesses a unique ability to touch the hearts of listeners. I encourage gospel artists to stay focused on the purpose of their music, which is to inspire and win souls, rather than getting drawn into the pursuit of material rewards.”
Chioma Uka, one of the attendees, described the concert as a replica of the Eden experience given the fluidity of each worship rendered in music.
“This is the third time I am attending his concert, and I am blessed by the excellence in each execution. This concert gives a clear example of Eden’s experience, where worship fills the body, spirit, and soul.”
