The name Afeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley rose from near obscurity to superstardom because of a series of actions that had unforeseen consequences.

What started off as mere internet trolling turned into a full-blown advocacy for internet fraud when Naira Marley recorded various videos openly justifying the act and of course his movement was gaining momentum as fraudsters, fraud beneficiaries and a number of bare ignorant people came out of the woodworks to hail the artiste and cheer him on.

His recent messiahship came crumbling down after he got the attention of the EFCC who promptly arrested him, his colleague Zlatan and three other acquaintances who were all eventually released but Marley was held in custody because the commission had damning evidence against him.

After being charged to court and embodying the persona of a “hero” fighting for his freedom, he has gone on to follow in the footsteps of those that came before him like Gucci Maine, Bobby Shmurda and DMX by milking the publicity and outpour of public sympathy. Naira Marley has released two tracks titled “Why” and “Opotoyi (Marlians)” in under one week and his thriving fanbase have ensured that both releases trend and top the charts.

The artist seems to be thriving even more behind bars than he did as a free man as his social media follower count has doubled since his arrest and his fans “Marlians”, have equally grown considerably larger and are constantly advocating for his freedom on a daily basis via social media.
