Mixed Reactions Greet Davido’s Arrival At NYSC Lagos Camp

Lagos National Youth Service Corps Camp, Iyana Ipaja, was on Thursday agog when wave making Assurance singer, Davido arrived the camp to begin his one-year mandatory NYSC program.

The Fia crooner posted a picture of his arrival at the camp on his Instagram page, as his fans and fellow corps members were seen falling on each other to have a glimpse of him.

News about the Omo Baba Olowo (O.B.O) has been making rounds on the internet lately after registering for NYSC at Lagos camp on Tuesday. He had on the same day, posted online a picture of himself wearing NYSC Khaki uniform, and accompanied the picture with a caption: ‘tying loose ends’.

Other corps members, who wanted to catch a glimpse of DMW head honcho and also take pictures together, mobbed him when he returned for the official swearing-in on Thursday.

The music star was seen in a picture addressing fellow corps members as they are seated on the parade ground at the NYSC camp in Iyana Ipaja, Agege area of Lagos. A video of the Skelewu and Aye singer replying @broddashaggi went viral when the later asked the pop star about is NYSC allowance popular called allowee.

Meanwhile other celebrities including, comedians Ayo Makun and Bovi, singers Sound Sultan, CDQ, Dare Art Alade, and actor Mike Ezuruonye, have commended Davido for his initiative to take part in the NYSC scheme.

AY, who commented on the picture posted by Davido said: “I am so proud of Davido.” While admitting that education is important, the comedy merchant implored aspiring young artistes to take a cue from Davido and attach importance to their education.

“Education is key no matter the amount you have in your bank account. I hope those who are planning to run away from school to become a Davido are seeing this?” he wrote.

For Bovi, it was “Blessed are you amongst your peer,” while CDQ said Davido has spurred him to dust his own NYSC kits too. “Sold-out camp. I’m dusting my NYSC kits too, Ipaja, here I come,” he wrote.

In another development, AY took to his social media page to react to other corps member mob of the music star, saying the camp should be called Davido Youth Service Corp.

“This is @davidoofficial arriving NYSC camp as a Corper. Who is serving who? No number one citizen of Nigeria don get this kind welcome for NYSC camp before. Please permit me to call this DYSC (Davido Youth Service Corp). More importantly, I am so proud of Davido,” he wrote.

Brodashaggi wrote: “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Be wise! Stay sharp! Serious joke!”
