Ghanaian dancehall star, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢10 million after facing questions over his purchase of a Lamborghini Urus.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) confirmed the development on Wednesday, August 20, noting that the musician will remain in custody until he provides two sureties with properties matching the bail amount.

According to Graphic Online, a statement from EOCO, the luxury car has been linked to a US$4 million fraud case involving Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian now serving a jail term in the United States.

Shatta Wale, who arrived at EOCO’s offices in Accra on Wednesday, reportedly spent four hours answering questions but could not provide proof of the car’s legitimate purchase, Graphic Online reports.

“So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus vehicle except to say that he purchased it from the ‘Street’ and from someone possibly called ‘ZAK’ who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away,” EOCO said.

The anti-graft agency further disclosed that the singer has no receipts or transfer papers to establish ownership of the vehicle, except for a customs declaration document bearing Amuah’s name.
