Uyinmwen Omosigho, better known as Don Vs, is fast gaining recognition for his unique brand of music.

Multiple award-winning Nigerian musician, Uyinmwen Omosigho, who many refer to as Don Vs, is fast gaining recognition not because he is an Afro-pop artiste like many of his contemporaries, but because he is a musician who has been propagating his culture with passion, focus and commitment across international boundaries.

Don Vs comes from the Edo State capital Benin and has been using the Edo language as the vehicle to communicate his message to people across the world.

The recipient of the Best Song of the Year at the ABMA Award in Italy said: “My best moment is seeing myself passing a message to the world through my music, and hearing my song everywhere.

“My genre of music is traditional pop. I love traditional pop because it’s easy to pass the message to the world, and more importantly, to also make people enjoy our priceless Edo language,” he said.

Don Vs, who started his music career on an Edo Broadcasting Service TV programme called ‘Beat and Laugh’, advised Nigerians in the diaspora to always look back to their roots, adding that no matter how long one spends away from home, it is always good to come back home.

The Europe-based music star said that despite gaining fame and fortune living overseas, there won’t be any place like Nigeria.

“I miss so many things; my family, my fans and the grind back then to get your music to be listened to.”

Proud of his roots, Don Vs savours the difficult road he walked to get to stardom and says no matter how rough the road is, no one should give up so easily on their dream.

“Never give up in life, pursue your dreams no matter the situation and environment. Your resilience and persistence will take you to the top, not just your talent. Keep pushing, you will achieve your dreams if you don’t give up.

“Resilience and persistence are the traits needed to succeed as an entertainer, irrespective of the level of talent or giftedness,” said Don Vs.

Apart from the ABMA Award, Don Vs is also a recipient of Belgium’s Creativity Reality Merit Award, bagging both the Popular Artist of the Year and Song of the Year honours, respectively, in 2018. He also won the European Artist of the Year award at the 2018 Money is money Entertainment Awards.

The following year, he won the Diaspora Artist of the Year at the Edo United Union, Godsent Foundation Award, and Germany’s Nega, respectively.

In 2021, he was bestowed with an EDO European Artist of the Year award at the Edo Carnival 2021, put together by the Edo State Diaspora@30, in Rome, Italy, and recently, on November 7, won the Naija Gbedu Achievement Award, in Milan, Italy.
