A one-year-old boy from Ghana has become the world’s youngest artist.

At just one year and 152 days old, Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male artist.

His artistic journey began when his mother, Chantelle, a fellow artist herself, noticed Ace-Liam’s fascination with paint at only six months old.

To keep him entertained while she worked, she laid down a canvas and dropped some paint on it.

What happened next was a masterpiece in the making! Little Ace-Liam explored the paint, spreading it across the canvas in what became his first creation, aptly titled “The Crawl.”

“While learning to crawl, I spread out a piece of unstretched canvas on the floor and dropped some paint on it as a way to keep him busy while I worked on a commission painting,” she explained.

This sparked a passion within Ace-Liam, and his artistic endeavours soon garnered national and international media attention. Even the First Lady of Ghana took notice of his talent.

With over 20 paintings under his belt, Ace-Liam participated in his first group exhibition, showcasing his work alongside established artists.
The reception was phenomenal – nine out of ten of his displayed pieces were sold!

Ace-Liam’s love for art goes beyond recognition and sales. He enjoys the tactile experience of paint, the vibrancy of colours, and the freedom of self-expression that painting offers.

His artwork is more about exploration and discovery than specific messages, drawing inspiration from his surroundings, emotions, and the joy of creating something new.
His painting sessions are spontaneous, a reflection of his mood.

Given a canvas and paints, he chooses his tools and colours, then dives right in, applying paint with a mix of care and spontaneity. Sessions can last anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on his interest.

Chantelle’s message to parents is simple, “encourage your child’s passions, no matter how young they may be”

She also encouraged those aspiring to break one or two records, to make sure they follow the appropriate guidelines in doing so.
