Rema Storms Off Stage After Sound System Failure At Concert

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema made headlines during his performance at the 2024 Dreamville Festival at North Carolina.
As he kicked off his set with the crowd-pleaser ‘Calm Down’, technical difficulties arose. The sound system began to falter, disrupting the flow of his performance.
He paused his act, addressing the technical team saying: “There’s too many sound issues and it’s messing up my performance. I’m seriously not feeling this. This is too messed up. I am representing Africa; this is too messed up. The sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage and Africa is in the house and you’re messing things up,” he expressed to the organizers.
Despite his efforts to continue, the persistent sound problems led to him halting his performance. He stated, “Too many sound issues, my people, I love you all my people,” before walking off the stage.
This incident at Dreamville Festival is not the first time he has walked off stage before.
Previously, in 2023, he walked off a stage in Atlanta over poor venue standards, saying his fans deserve a better stage performance.
2024 has been quite a great year for Rema. His single ‘Calm Down’ became the longest-charting and most successful African song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
He also delivered an iconic performance of this hit at the BRIT Awards, where it was nominated for International Song of the Year.
