The 54-year-old rapper’s arrest has drawn attention to the track’s emotional lyrics, with fans speculating that Bieber might have been referring to his time with Diddy during his early years in the industry.
Figures from Luminate show that “Lonely” sold close to 1,500 copies last week, a huge jump from less than 100 the previous week.
The song, which is part of Bieber’s Justice album, reflects his struggles with growing up in the public eye. Now, amid the controversy surrounding Diddy’s arrest, “Lonely” has gained fresh significance for many of Bieber’s listener
