The legacy of Indian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Sidhu Moose Wala’s lives on with the release of his third posthumous song, “Mera Na,” featuring Grammy Award winner Burna Boy.

The music video, directed and edited by Navkaran Brar, portrays Sidhu’s colossal fame and how his fans continue to pay tribute to him.

The video also includes a snippet of Canadian rapper Drake wearing a T-shirt with Sidhu’s portrait printed on it.

The song, released on April 7th, 2023, has been an instant hit, garnering over 14.9 million views on YouTube within 24 hours, with over 2 million ‘likes’ and one million comments.

As of the time of writing, the video had amassed 20.4 million views and almost 1.2 million comments.

Moose Wala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot on May 29, 2022 while driving his car in Mansa, a district in Punjab state, northern India. The 28-year-old was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

The police in the Indian state of Punjab said the initial investigation had revealed the killing to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry.

A day before the attack, Punjab’s government had pulled security cover for more than 400 individuals, including Moose Wala, in an attempt to clamp down on VIP culture, local media reports said.

Moose Wala, who blended hip-hop, rap and folk music, started off as a songwriter before a hit song in 2017 catapulted his singing career, making him well known among the Indian and Punjabi diaspora in such countries as the UK and Canada.

His death left a huge void in the Indian music industry.

However, his music continues to resonate with fans worldwide, and his collaboration with Burna Boy has been particularly well-received.

Burna Boy was one of the few artists that Sidhu had expressed a desire to collaborate with before his untimely death.

“Mera Na” is the result of that collaboration, a testament to Sidhu Moose Wala’s vision and talent.

The song features Burna Boy and Steel Banglez, with Sidhu Moose Wala as the singer and lyricist.

The track’s success is a testament to the power of music to bring people together across borders and cultures.

Burna Boy expressed his honour to be part of Sidhu Moose Wala’s legacy and praised the fans for their overwhelming support.
