Beat the Rainy Season With Style
Once again, the rainy season is upon us. Don’t let the gloomy weather get to you. Brighten up every single day with the right style choices.
Wardrobe Updates for the Rainy Season
Pull Out The Colors
Because the weather is so grey and dull, you can add a little brightness with outfits in pink, yellow, red and orange. White isn’t really a good idea during the rainy season because of all the mud and dirt. Also, white clothing items tend to appear transparent when wet.
Slimmer Trousers and Shorter Skirts
Pack away your long trousers and skirts, unless you want them to drag in the mud or soak up puddles. Opt for midi skirts instead, for a more formal environment and have your pants fitted if your office allows it.
Invest in Coats and jackets
This is the time to pull out those jackets and trench coats people laughed at you for wearing. The rainy season gets cold enough that you can actually comfortably wear these out now and not have people look at you like you’re mad.
Leather shoes and sandals are a definite no this season. Go for rubber shoes and flats instead. You should also consider investing in rain boots. There are some pretty stylish ones you can buy to wear around. Be sure to check that your shoes have a strong grip so you don’t slip and fall.
Avoid Dark Wash Denim
My advice would be to stay away from denim completely this season, because they take a long time to dry. But I understand that’s almost impossible. If you must wear denim, avoid the dark wash ones that run.
Stylish Umbrellas and Raincoats
Many people, myself inclusive, don’t really think about buying a raincoat because we remember the ugly ones we wore in secondary and primary school. Fortunately, there are a lot of stylish raincoats available now. Even better, you can match your raincoat and your umbrella for a stylish ensemble.
Water-Resistant Handbags and Wallets
Of course, you can’t leave home without your bags and wallets. I think patent leather is a good option, but you should also get rubber bags and wallets if you can. For your documents and such, invest in rubber carry-alls like those clear bags.
