At a high-profile cocktail reception hosted by the Swedish Embassy and Business Sweden at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos Fashion Week held a fashion showcase in honour of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. Supported by the Swedish Institute, the event brought together Swedish and Nigerian talent under one roof.
Maxjenny! presented digitally printed silks featuring delicate floral motifs, a nod to founder Maxjenny Forslund’s textile-art roots. Meanwhile, Selam Fessahaye unveiled hand-embroidered silhouettes inspired by her Eritrean-Swedish heritage.
On the Nigerian side, Emmy Kasbit’s hand-woven fabrics and Lisa Folawiyo’s bold Ankara embellishments demonstrated how local craftsmanship and modern design can merge seamlessly.
Among the distinguished guests were Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru, Publisher of The Guardian Nigeria Newspapers, and her son Tive Alex-Ibru.
Against a backdrop of ambient terrace lighting and soft Afro-Nordic music, designers, diplomats, and fashion insiders celebrated the showcase’s emphasis on sustainable practices.
The event reflected Crown Princess Victoria’s broader mission to foster creativity, sustainability, and cross-cultural collaboration.
