Whether you have cash in excess, or you’re on a budget, or like us, you gave up already on checking debit alerts (when the card hits decline on grounds of insufficient funds, then we know we’ve finally had enough), the real goal this time of the year is to live your best life.

As we return to the great outside this yuletide season, tickets by the thousands are being sold (if not sold out), IJGBs have landed concert ready and companies are already having their End of Year parties. But it takes more than tickets to the most coveted parties, concerts and events to live your best life this season. If you’ve not been living under a rock, you would have come across some of the thousands of think pieces about how to live your best life (Big Things edition). Those lists include the best places to buy tickets to concerts and all the social events happening this season.

But what about the little things? Those things that, in our rush for Detty December, we tend to ignore until we are in the heart of it. This is where we step in.

We have curated a list of the little things that can hinder us from living our best lives as we move from event to event.

See them below:

Eat At Home

Let’s start with the number one thing that we might not realise but is very important. You have to eat at home before heading out for a night of fun. Take it from those who have been to events that served only drinks. This is vital so that you’re not left starving at a concert munching on popcorn. You’d be surprised that two packs of noodles are capable of taking the average person through the night. Say after me in your African aunt’s voice, “there is food at home.”

Stable Internet

In Nigeria, the internet is not stable, all the time, everywhere, even for those that use the best networks, and God have mercy if you use that network at that time. To live your best life this holiday season, you need an alternative that is particularly not that network. Just like we said, we’ve stopped checking debit alerts in our devotion to this Detty December. Be it ordering a cab, food or posting on Instagram, this season isn’t complete without a stable internet connection.

That Party Friend

There are two types of party friends, the one that always wants to go home when the event is just about to get lit, and the one that gets into the groove as the event gets lit. For this season, we recommend the latter. The one who is in sync with the party, and is ready to party when the party really starts. So you don’t end up going out and not living your best life. This advice is key.

Prepaid Card

We are not in the habit of giving financial advice, but a prepaid card might be what you need to escape the hustle and bustle of the regular debit card (if you know what we mean). To live your best life while evading unnecessary charges, the prepaid card might help. We recommend it for all ticket purchases, Uber rides, and food deliveries. Also, if you’re on a budget, a prepaid card might be useful in reminding you not to exceed that budget.

Sneakers

We come bearing good tidings for Christmas. Gone are the days of flats in the bag, just in case the shoes get too uncomfortable. Ditch the heels and derby shoes and opt for sneakers for comfort and style.
