Social media isn’t safe this week. From Instagram to Twitter, reputations are being attacked, lives ruined. Guess that’s why they call it showbusiness. Here are the stories that made our week….

Becky begone!
Nothing on the twins yet but we have a new album by Jay-Z where he appears to confirm the cheating rumors and even refers to ‘Becky with the Good Hair’. It’s only available on Tidal but has already started a bit of a debate about cheating. 4:44 is his 13th studio album after an almost five year hiatus. Lines like “Leave me alone, Becky,” and “[I] almost went Eric Benet” will have people drawing their own conclusions for sometime.

Badoo
The ritualistic Badoo cult is presently striking fear into the hearts of many Lagos residents. With a reputation for gruesome killings over the past 12 months, they are viewed as an ongoing scourge in Lagos State. As distrust grows in the ability of the police to deal with the terror, many residents are taking self-protective matters into their own hands despite state discouragement.

In the Nnamdi of Biafra
The establishment has been spooked by a new potential icon for the Biafran cause in the form of Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is a British-Nigerian activist and a leading member of several Biafran organisations and also owns a radio station Radio Biafra. It seems Kanu has been able to inspire a new interest in the Biafran cause and rally many devotees. His arrest and detention from 2015 – 2017 seems to have made him a welcome martyr figure for many with over 5000 gathering at his house in Umauhia recently.

Kardashian Rob’d
The Internet did not sleep this week as Rob Kardashian began a hysterical Instagram campaign against his on/off again fiancee, former stripper Blac Chyna accusing her of milking him of milllions. The Kardashian clan must have been reeling as wave after wave of revelations broke about their relationship. Everything from infidelity to drug addiction and plastic surgery was revealed and culminated in nude pictures of Chyna. He was eventually banned from Instagram but not before inspiring thousands of memes mocking the whole situation. Even TI and Snoop Dog weighed in on the situation.

Shade on – Shade off
Twitter isn’t safe at the moment. With Wizkid and Davido beefing back and forth, it’s better to stay off the platform. Tekno didn’t get the memo wading into the argument and getting called Duckface by Wizkid as a result. Wizkid and Davido are trading barbs after Davido’s Summer Body response to Wizkid calling him a ‘local artist’.
