Few days after signing an international deal with Virgin EMI Records, Nigerian singer-songwriter Timi Dakolo has released a song “Merry Christmas Darling”, featuring award-winning British singer Emeli Sande.

Three days ago, the “Iyawo Mi” crooner announced via his Instagram page the new record deal he just signed with UK based record label Virgin EMI Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.

With the new release, the duo sets the mood for Christmas and we are here for it.

“Before it gets really busy with festivities, Let me be the first to say to you, Merry Christmas Darling.” He said in an Instagram post.

Another post pictures Dakolo and Sande recording in a studio with the ‘Wish Me Well’ crooner captioning it:

“It is true that music is the sound of our Emotions, I can’t wait to share this truth with you all.”

The Christmas themed song “Merry Christmas Darling” is the first track off his highly anticipated sophomore album. Dakolo, while announcing the new single also revealed the release date of the forthcoming album. The album is set for release for the 22nd of November and if you ask us, Christmas gift came in early!

Dakolo shot into limelight in 2007 when he won a singing reality TV show competition, West African Idols singing competition.

From releasing the Beautiful Noise album in 2011 and having popular songs like Iyawo mi, The Vow to his credit, he went on to become a judge on The Voice Nigeria, where he took on the challenge to mentor Idyl – the 2017 winner of the singing competition.

A few of the hit singles he has to his credit include “Iyawo Mi” (2014), “Wish Me Well” (2015), “The Vow” (2016), “Medicine” (2017) and “I Never Know Say” (2018).
