The 2022 World Cup scheduled to hold from November 20 to December 18 is the most anticipated football event of the year.
As football lovers flood Qatar here are some places to note in your checklist ahead of the football extravanganza.

The minaret of the spiral mosque at Fanar
One of Doha’s most well-known architectural monuments, the spiral mosque’s minaret is visible through a wall of water from a fountain in front of the Museum of Islamic Art, which is located across the street. This mosque is a duplicate of the Great Mosque of Al-Mutawwakil in Samarra, Iraq, rather than the conventional mosque in Qatar. It is situated close to Souq Waqif in the Souqs neighbourhood. The old city’s dominant spiral minaret is brought to life at night. It is also known as the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre.

National Museum Qatar

Make your trip complete with a visit to the Qatar National Museum. This magnificent piece of construction tells the story of Qatar’s illustrious past and heritage. The museum structure, called ‘desert rose’, is shaped like a set of interlocking cantilevered discs and resembles a metal crystal.

The museum houses manuscripts, pictures, jewellery, archaeological and historical artefacts, costumes, and more that educates one about the Middle East. Checkout the Baroda pearl carpet, which the Indian Maharajah of Baroda has authorised. Over 1.5 million pearls, rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and emeralds are placed in gold on a piece of beautiful silk. Children under 16 and tourists are admitted free of charge to the National Museum of Qatar, but adult foreign visitors must pay a small entrance fee.

The 2022 World Cup ceremony has been scheduled to hold at the Al Bayt stadium at Al Khor, 35 kilometres north of Doha. The stadium is a 60,000-seat stadium where six group matches, a round of 16 match, and a semifinal will all be played which includes 1,000 seats for press. The stadium’s beautiful tent structure envelops an ultra-modern football stadium and was inspired by the bayt al sha’ar of Qatar’s nomadic people. The tents can be recognised by their distinctive black and white stripes. According to Dr. Nasser Al Hajeri, the facility management director, said the intention while building the stadium was to capture the culture and heritage of the people as tourists get a feel of being in Qatar.
