Twitter Reactions To Akpabio’s Defection To APC
Since the rumoured defection of Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio to the ruling party, APC, Nigerians including former political office holders have expressed their dismay.
According to a report carried by ThisDayLive, Akpabio who will be formally received on Thursday 8 August at Ikot Ekpene Stadium was shown “a dossier on some of his alleged atrocities as governor, including money said to have been stashed in different places, through the EFCC. Joining the ruling party was a condition given to avoid prosecution for corruption”.
Since the report and his non-denial of the defection, some Nigerians on twitter have been reacting:
I’m confirming that the @APCNigeria family as earlier indicated will formally receive H.E,@godswill_akpabio on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8,2018 at an elaborate ceremony in Akwa-Ibom State.Senator (Dr) ITA ENANG.Presidential Liaison to the National Assembly- Senate. For Akaebube, the Nigerian social commentator, this is a transfer update:
TRANSFER UPDATE
PDP Midfielder, Akpabio, is currently undergoing his Medicals ahead of a controversial move to Relegation threatened APC.
Sources say he was offered a very UNCOMMON deal by APC and he has also agreed personal terms wth the club.

The likes of Reno Omokri, spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan are making a mockery of the minority leader and the present administration:
Behold Akpabio, all your sins have been forgiven. When @officialEFCC sees the broom, EFCC will Passover! pic.twitter.com/CnoIN1gmVI

I sincerely congratulate Akpabio for proving to the whole world what we’ve always known, that a devil transfigures to saint from PDP to APC and the opposite when he moves from APC to PDP… https://t.co/2QLhPMKPAc

Akpabio as Senate President would be a new level of low for Nigeria. A moment to share the grace and end the tragedy. If he likes he should do so under the All Saints Party of Nigeria (ASAPON) https://t.co/JyHx5q1Hr5

The hypocrisy of APC rejoicing over the supposed defection of the new saint Senator Akpabio is disgusting to say the least. One thing is for sure now, fight against corruption is definitely fight against opposition and Buhari’s integrity is an non existent as his certificate.

I was seated with a PDP Gov from the SS watching the events on TV when Akpabio emerged as the Minority Leader. He turned to me and said “ahh Doc,we(PDP) just made a big mistake”. I asked him why, and he basically said mans a chameleon. The Strong man was right.

I’m now hearing gist that some Akwa Ibom politicians that Akpabio frustrated and drove to APC are now warming up to return to PDP as soon as Akpabio decamps.
Seems APC and PDP are exchanging hostages. 😊

Others beg to differ:
For those who think Saraki leading 12 largely irrelevant Senators and some Kwara local champions to @OfficialPDPNig is a masterstroke, wait till you hear the names and pedigree of those following Akpabio to @OfficialAPCNg.
Saraki’s move will look like that of a learner. pic.twitter.com/SkzmpEBzPR— Mr. Aye Dee (@MrAyeDee) August 4, 2018
It’s not everything we know that we post on social media. I knew of Akpabio’s plan to dump PDP several months ago. I also know why he didn’t quit then. Some of you can continue to talk about EFCC and blackmail all you want sha. It’s pure politics and nothing more. I’m done.
