Wendy Williams has disclosed her struggle with substance abuse, a habit she had developed during her time at the radio. She, however, claims that she made efforts to quite because the media would catch up on her because of her status, she told Page Six

“Look, I was very popular at the time I decided to stop. If I were to be busted that would’ve definitely been New York Post front cover.” “I just woke up one day and I said, ‘Girl, you need to stop before it really goes down.”

She also stated that the police never caught her with drugs.

She and her Hunter Foundation recently launched a campaign, Be Here to fight substance abuse, educate people on the fact that it “does not have to be your demise” and help those who are battling with it.

“I lost a little over 10 years of my life regarding substance abuse, but I’m now going into Season 10 [The Wendy Williams Show]. I’m married, I have a great career and a flourishing business … it’s not that you fall down, it’s how you rise. And if you rise, then you reach back. This is a reach back.”
