Wevvo Annual Conference: Choose To Thrive

Wevvo Nigeria, a community-based platform is an organization created to support female breadwinners to thrive in their businesses and careers.

The number of female breadwinners in Nigeria is increasing exponentially, yet the society and investment space have not acknowledged these women, by deliberately recognizing their struggles and contributions to nation-building.

Presently in Nigeria, Female breadwinners are between 18% to 21% and in the low-income bracket, it’s between 60 -70% and this is still outside the number of co-breadwinners supporting their families.

WEVVO Nigeria provides access to finance, business capacity training, mentorship, and a community for these single female breadwinners in Nigeria.

Wevvo Nigeria adopts a 3 thronged approach in its support of single female breadwinners through the:
Community – through events, podcasts and community meetup we spur conversations that promote mental health wellness and healing for our community members.
Academy – we provide capacity building for community members to help them in their businesses and careers.
Marketplace – through partnerships we provide financial products and services for the women in the community.

We have partnered with organizations like LAPO Mfb, ARM, Goxi Microinsurance, Micro Investment support services.

Since our inception, Wevvo has grown to over 400 community members spread across Nigeria. We have supported over 200 women with training (physical and virtual), supported over 100 women with micro-grants and food supplies, created access to microloans and asset acquisition and so much more.

According to the founder of Wevvo Nigeria, Weyinmi Eribo, “female breadwinners must continue to be supported to ensure that we can fight the dogmas and create more opportunities for women.

The ripple effect of women with better economic opportunities is that there would be better access to education, healthcare and other resources for her children and communities in general”.

To celebrate these milestones, Wevvo Nigeria will host its first-ever annual conference. We have a line-up of fantastic speakers who will be sharing their stories of how they have thrived through the stereotypes and stigmatization that we experience in our society.

The speakers are Arese Ugwu (Author, Producer, Smart Money woman), Dr. Laila Othman (MD/CEO L&N Interiors and Exterior Décor LTD, Onye Ubanatu (Pan African Content Producer), and Christine Sesay (Founder, Work Ready Africa).

We have partnered with SEEDs services to provide business support grants, Foresight group to provide one-year academic scholarship for a child, and Wellness HMO to provide one-year free health insurance plan members of the community.

The event is a hybrid event so people can attend physically (in Abuja) or online anywhere in the world. The event will hold on Saturday 11th October at 11 am (WAT).
